Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Dgny processes information when you use the Dgny iOS application. Dgny helps users create, organize, and study AI-assisted vocabulary flashcards with translations, definitions, example sentences, collections, and optional AI-generated collection cover images.
1. Information We Process
Depending on how you use the app, Dgny may process the following categories of information:
- words, phrases, sentences, or text that you enter, scan, or import
- your selected learning language and native language
- AI-generated translations, definitions, and example sentences
- AI-generated cover images for collections, when you choose to create them
- locally stored flashcards, collections, learning progress, and app settings
- a technical user or installation identifier used to manage free usage limits and premium access
- subscription status, purchase history, and entitlement information
- technical request, error, security, and diagnostic information needed to operate, protect, and troubleshoot the app
Dgny does not receive or store full payment card numbers, bank account details, or other payment credentials.
2. How We Use Information
Dgny uses information to:
- create AI-assisted vocabulary flashcards
- provide translations, definitions, and example sentences
- recognize text through PhotoScan
- import words from other apps through the Share Extension
- generate and display optional AI-created collection cover images
- store and reuse suitable collection cover images where appropriate
- manage free usage limits and premium features
- verify subscriptions and restore purchases
- maintain app security, prevent abuse, and investigate technical problems
- improve reliability, loading performance, and user support
3. AI Features
When you use an AI feature, the text you provide and the selected language settings may be transmitted to an AI service so that Dgny can generate a translation, definition, example sentence, or collection cover image.
Dgny currently uses the OpenAI API for AI-powered features. Information sent to the API may include the text you submit, selected language information, and limited technical metadata required to process the request.
OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models by default. OpenAI may retain API inputs, outputs, and related abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days unless a different retention setting applies or longer retention is required by law.
Do not submit sensitive personal information, confidential information, private records, or content that you are not authorized to process.
4. PhotoScan and Imported Content
PhotoScan allows you to capture or select text and turn recognized words into vocabulary cards. Text recognized from an image may be processed on your device and, when you create an AI card, the selected text may be sent to the AI service described above.
When you use the Dgny Share Extension, the word or text you choose to import may be transferred from the source app into Dgny and processed to create a vocabulary card.
You are responsible for making sure that you have permission to process any text, image, or other content that you submit.
5. AI-Generated Collection Images and Image Caching
Dgny may generate optional cover images for collections. These images are based on the collection name, topic, or another short prompt and are not intended to contain personal information.
To improve performance, avoid unnecessary duplicate generations, and deliver image features efficiently, generated collection cover images may be stored using infrastructure provided by Cloudflare.
Technical mapping information may be stored with an image so that Dgny can associate an existing image with a relevant collection topic or request.
A suitable previously generated image may be reused for the same or a substantially similar collection topic. Cached images are not intended to be private or exclusively assigned to one user.
Do not include names, private information, confidential material, or sensitive personal data in prompts used to generate collection images.
6. Cloudflare
Dgny uses Cloudflare services for infrastructure such as API delivery, DNS, hosting, storage, routing, performance, and security.
Depending on the service and request, Cloudflare may process:
- IP address
- request date, time, and type
- device, browser, operating system, and network information
- security, abuse-prevention, and error events
- technical identifiers or mapping values
- AI-generated collection images and related metadata
- text or request data that passes through Dgny's API infrastructure
Cloudflare may process information in multiple countries depending on the services and configuration used.
7. Subscriptions and In-App Purchases
Dgny offers premium features through Apple In-App Purchases. Apple processes payment information and purchase transactions under Apple's own terms and privacy practices.
Dgny uses RevenueCat to manage subscription status, purchase validation, entitlements, and purchase restoration. RevenueCat may process an app user identifier, purchase information, subscription status, product identifiers, transaction details, and related technical information.
Dgny does not receive your complete payment card information from Apple or RevenueCat.
8. Information Stored on Your Device
Flashcards, collections, learning progress, language settings, and other app preferences may be stored locally on your device.
Deleting the app may remove locally stored information. Deleting the app does not automatically delete information that has already been processed or retained by Apple, OpenAI, RevenueCat, Cloudflare, or another service provider.
9. Data Retention
Dgny keeps information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the app, maintain security, manage purchases and usage limits, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and support users.
- locally stored flashcards and collections remain on your device until you delete them or remove the app
- purchase and entitlement records may be retained while needed to verify premium access, restore purchases, prevent fraud, or provide support
- technical logs may be retained for a limited period for security, diagnostics, and abuse prevention
- cached collection cover images may be retained while they remain useful for operating the image feature
- service providers may retain information according to their own policies, contractual obligations, and legal requirements
10. Service Providers
Dgny currently relies on the following categories of service providers:
- OpenAI for AI-generated translations, definitions, example sentences, and collection cover images
- RevenueCat for subscription and entitlement management
- Apple for App Store distribution, In-App Purchases, and payment processing
- Cloudflare for hosting, API infrastructure, storage, delivery, performance, and security
These providers process information only as needed to provide their services, comply with legal obligations, protect their systems, and enforce their terms.
11. International Data Transfers
Dgny and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live, including the United States.
Where required by applicable law, international transfers may rely on recognized safeguards such as contractual protections, adequacy decisions, or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
12. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or an objection to certain processing.
Residents of certain U.S. states may also have rights to know what personal information is collected, request correction or deletion, obtain a portable copy, and appeal a denied request where applicable.
To submit a privacy request, contact [email protected]. Dgny may need to verify your request before responding.
Some information may not be directly linked to an identifiable person. For example, deleting a cached collection image may require the collection topic, prompt, image reference, or other information needed to identify it.
13. Children's Privacy
Dgny is not directed to children under 13, and Dgny does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child has submitted personal information, contact [email protected] so that the matter can be reviewed.
Where a higher minimum age applies under local law, users must meet that age requirement or use Dgny with the authorization of a parent or legal guardian.
14. Security
Dgny uses reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and Dgny cannot guarantee absolute security.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when Dgny's features, service providers, technical systems, or legal obligations change.
The date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last updated. The current version is available at https://dgny.app/privacy.
